Announcements:

            April 17 Parent Forum @ Hamber 630-900pm

          May 3-6                                     BCCPAC conference

May 10 0800 AM                          Staff Appreciation Tea please bring finger foods to school in the morning.

Treasurer’s Report: This year we have spent more money then we have taken in, although we are still financial stable. Gaming application will be made by the end of June, this will likely pay $20.00 per student.

Constitution and bylaws: We require changes to update the PAC constitution and bylaws. The chair requested volunteers to form a committee, no volunteers, so the executive will form a committee to come up with the changes for the next meeting.

Principal’s Report: School budget and calculations are on the way. There currently is a 5 million dollar deficit- there will be cuts, no lay-offs. The bottom line is that the schools will be doing with a lot less.

Facility review: Currently the schools are being reviewed and it is noted that there are about 10,00 seats not occupied in the Vancouver School Board area. Although our Tech shop is not running at full capacity we theoretically have room for 300 students.  This is not feasible as we do not have room for more students in the academic subject area. Other schools do have empty classrooms. It appears in time that schools will be closed if the facilities are not operating to full capacity. On the other hand, schools will be built due to high enrollment in other areas of the city. By the end of April we will be told which schools will be closed.

Sports: Badminton team just won another provincial tournament

Report cards: All students received report cards recently. Of note, over 50% of the marks given out were A’s or B’s.

Africa: As noted there is work happening in “Africa”. This will eventually be developed into a multipurpose playing field, running and walking pathway, a bike “playground” and a dog park/

Drinking and Driving: Recently there was a presentations to the Grade 11’s and 12’s  about the consequences of drinking and driving. This had a huge impact on the students.

School Fees: No fees for anything related to marks. Regular school fees for the agenda, year book etc. are still in place. If field trips are not mandatory, then a fee can be charged.

School Dance: Last dance of the school year will be held April 19.

Teacher’s Report: Thanks expressed to the PAC for funding the items on the needs list.

Sports: Currently ultimate, tennis, and senior girls soccer are running.

Dance Performance: April 18 a variety of multicultural dances to be performed.

Drama: The Norman Conquest- 3 performance plays linked through a story line. Stay tuned for the dates

Strings Festival April 4

30 Hour famine April 13,14

Needs List: continuation: Sharia Clemens motioned that we give the athletic department 4,000 dollars to pay for ultimate uniforms. The motion was passed.

As we were running out of time the video Depression among young people was not played. It was offered to parents to take home to watch.

Meeting adjourned at: 8:41 pm.

The next and final PAC meeting will be an AGM on May 29 @700pm.

Minutes taken by Vivienne James- past chair
