What is a Counsellor?

  • A counsellor is a certified teacher who has special training or a Masters in the areas of individual, family, and group counselling.
  • A counsellor is a good resource when you are trying to find support within your community (ie. community support services).
  • A counsellor is a caring person who will listen to your concerns and be pro-active in the problem-solving process. Counsellors can help with resolving personal and relationship issues, academic and vocational concerns, as well as setting and achieving goals.
  • A counsellor is a professional trained in the needs of adolescent students.

Your counsellor will provide the following on a individualized or group basis.

  • Personal counselling.
  • Academic counselling.
  • Career/vocational counselling.
  • Consultation with students, families, administrators, teachers, and outside services.
  • Guidance.
